Now hiring teachers across Africa

Teach your language to children around the world, from home

Fluent African connects native-speaking teachers in Africa with families in the diaspora who want their children to speak the language of home. You teach live, one family at a time, and get paid for every child who attends.

  • Paid for every child present
  • Accept only the lessons that suit you
  • Families book you, not the other way round

Why teachers choose Fluent African

A steady, flexible income from the language you already speak, and work that keeps a culture alive.

Paid for every child who attends

Every lesson is for one family, and each child present adds to what you earn for that hour. Siblings in the same lesson mean more pay for the same time.

Teach from your own home

All lessons are live video calls. No commute, no classroom to hire. Everything you need is a laptop, a webcam and a steady connection.

Teaching that fits your life

Every booking comes to you as a request you can accept or decline. Teach full time or a few evenings a week alongside other work.

One clear rate, no haggling

Lesson prices are set by the platform, so you never compete with other teachers on price. Your exact rate per child is shown at sign-up, before you accept it.

Families come to you

Parents around the world find your profile, meet you and book you here. You spend your time teaching, not advertising.

Work that matters

You help children in the diaspora greet their grandparents, follow family stories and grow up proud of where they come from.

Is this you?

We are looking for teachers with

  • A native command of an African language such as Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Swahili, Amharic, Akan, Twi, Shona, Zulu, Xhosa, Chewa, Bambara or Luganda, and a home in Africa
  • Experience teaching children, in a school, a community class or privately
  • Teaching certificates you can upload
  • A quiet space, a laptop with a webcam and a reliable internet connection
  • Warmth and patience for children who may be starting from zero

Every teacher is verified before being listed, so families know they are booking someone real, qualified and safe to teach their children.
